Program Description:

n 2014 Mayor Will Sessoms called upon the region’s biomedical executives and university researchers to expand our economic footprint into the biosciences. Together these leaders formed a task force and performed a market assessment identifying key areas where Virginia Beach is primed to excel in the biomedical and healthcare field.  The Department of Economic Development then established the VABeachBio business development program designed to encourage existing biomedical businesses to expand and to bring in new research and development to the region.  The centerpiece of the initiative is the creation of a 155 acre biomedical research park known as the VABeachBio Innovation Park that will have over 1,000,000 sf of Class A office, wet lab, and medical manufacturing space.

Officials from Virginia Beach Economic Development and the Department of Planning will discuss how this park will be created and the types of uses that are being targeted here and within the Princess Anne Commons biomedical corridor.
