Program Details:
Please join us as Rob Winstead, VMDO Principal, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, shares his experiences as a Building Goodness Foundation volunteer to design a school in the community of Centro Uno in rural northern Guatemala for the Ixtatan Foundation. The new school will feature six new classrooms serving 150 students in grades 7-12 from nearly 15 neighboring villages; the closest middle school is two hours away. The students currently share rooms in the primary school and meet only in the afternoons. Lacking educational options, many students this age leave their communities or immigrate alone to the US.
