On consecutive days in Hampton Roads and Richmond, Carol Naughton, the President of Purpose Built Communities, spoke in two separate ULI events about the services that this organization provides to communities looking to revitalize impoverished neighborhoods.
Purpose Built Communities is a non-profit consulting company which works hand-in hand with local municipalities and developers to devise a comprehensive approach to neighborhood revitalization. This approach grew from the knowledge that it’s not enough to improve or replace a single aspect of a struggling neighborhood.
Purpose Built Communities seeks to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty by helping local leaders transform struggling neighborhoods, and bringing together the vital components necessary for holistic community revitalization: high quality mixed-income housing, an effective cradle-to-college education pipeline, and comprehensive community wellness resources.
