Reality Check starts out as a one-day participatory visioning exercise, kicking off a long-range planning process designed to help leaders envision alternative growth scenarios through 2035. Neither a traditional conference nor a theoretical exercise, Reality Check is a planning technique rooted in real world economic, demographic, and geographic data and trends analysis. Participants representing diverse constituencies and points of view meet and work together during the course of a morning to allocate the region’s projected population and job growth and to develop Land Use Guiding Principles for implementation of desired patterns of growth.
It’s a gathering of stakeholders from across region representing housing, business, transportation, environmental, government, non-profit, civic interests, agriculture and other sectors. The resulting documents were produced to guide current and future regional leaders.
