Program Details:
ULI Charlottesville presents “Exploring Kindlewood” – a look at the resident-led redevelopment of Charlottesville’s Kindlewood (formerly known as Friendship Court) community.
The event will feature discussion from Sunshine Mathon and Mandy Burbage of the Piedmont Housing Alliance reviewing the core principles and history behind the redevelopment and providing an overview of current and future project phases. The redevelopment presentation will be followed by tours of the new multifamily housing building currently under construction, as well as one of the townhomes which have already been delivered as part of the 1st phase of the project construction.
Access Details:
Multifamily building is active construction, please wear closed-toe shoes & bring a hard hat if you have one (loaner hard hats will also be available at the community center). Presentation and tours will begin at the Kindlewood community center, located within the community.
Attendees are encouraged to use on street parking spaces along 6th Street, 2nd Street, Garrett Street or Monticello Avenue in order to preserve onsite parking for residents. Directions to community center from Monticello Ave. entrance:
- Enter community off Monticello Ave. (between 2nd and 6th streets)
- Go straight to ‘T’ Intersection in parking lot and turn right
- Follow drive aisle to end
- Community Center on right
- Entry left side of building at end of sidewalk
