Program Details:
Norfolk is one of the most vulnerable places along the East Coast with a low-lying waterfront and rising sea levels. The Ryan Resilience Lab is one of the local climate-infrastructure projects that has been designed to educate the public on how sea level rise affects us. The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced its plan for investing the $14 billion from President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to strengthen port and waterway supply chains and bolster climate resilience. In response to this plan, the City of Norfolk will receive $399, 331, 000 to increase community resilience to flooding. There have also been some grassroots organizations that are addressing climate change through policies. Join us to learn about how Norfolk and the surrounding areas are addressing sea level rise with a panel of experts.
